“Should those Mayan doomsayers prove correct, local performance series Salonathon is doing its damnedest to make sure the world ends not with a whimper, but an absolute banger. Shifting locale from its usual Beauty Bar digs, the weekly throwdown takes the Metro’s larger stage on this would-be apocalypse eve for a special, outsized version of their usual vibrant, unfalteringly diverse programming. The party includes queer hip-hop (Big Dipper), spectacle-driven synth pop (Baathhaus), electronic jams (Grades), burlesque (the Fly Honeys), drag (Shea Coulee), and standup comedy (Dean Evans as Honeybuns). Not a bad way to finish things.”
